March 1, 7pm —The Community Coffeehouse welcomes back Jen Corkins. Jen taught herself guitar in college, and has always loved to sing. Her husband-equivalent, Dan, encouraged her to get out and play in public, so she started doing Open Mic nights at Langdon St. Cafe in Montpelier. After getting her feet wet that way, she became brave enough to play local farmers’ markets. In 2011, musician friends of Dan and Jen asked if they would like to work up some tunes for a local fair. After a summer of twice a week rehearsals, the played for the first time together that August and have played St. J First Night the last two years under the name of Blue Road Crossing. Jen also plays frequently at the Bee’s Knees in Morrisville and at Brown’s Market Bistro in Groton. An open mike for those who wish to share their music will be available at 8pm. Coffee, tea, cider and snacks will be provided. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person to support library programs.
