April 5 – 12, Money Smart Week – Drop by the library to checkout book, movies, and magazines on money, saving, and economics.

April 11, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

Looking Ahead

April 14 6:30pm, Peacham Knitters – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. New knitters are welcome to come for help and encouragement.

April 14, 7:00pm, Peacham Library Board Meeting – Meetings are open to the public.

April 15, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – An innocent train ride twists into intrigue when Iris Henderson (Margaret Lockwood) is hit on the head by a potted plant as she begins her journey. Iris is helped onto the train by a retired governess, but hours later “the lady vanishes” in this Alfred Hitchcock film.

April 17, 1:15pm, Children’s Theatre – This new, Academy Award winning animated film will put you right back in “frozen” territory. The story is simple—Anna sets off with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his reindeer Sven to find her sister, Elsa, whose powers have trapped the kingdom in a “frozen” winter wonderland. Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

April 17, 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – The group will discuss The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book.

April 18, 9:00 am, Preschool Story Time – In celebration of Savings Month, bank officials will be on hand to talk about savings for kids and adults. There will also be the usual stories and crafts for the young and their caregivers.

April 19, 1 – 3pm, Herb Club – Herb nerd fun or how to use herbs for both medicinal and culinary purposes. No experience necessary, just an interest in herbs. April topics –a weed walk and optional seed swap. If you are interested in seeds bring baggies/containers and a way to label them. If weather keeps us indoors we will discuss wild crafting, plant identification, and spring ephemerals.

Of Interest

Friends of Peacham Library will be selling homemade sweets and quality used items at the Flea Market at Peacham Congregational Church on April 26.  Contact Mini’s Jitney Service (592-3966) if you have items you would like to donate to the Friends’ fund raising efforts

The 2014-2015 DCF books are in!  Get a head start on reading this great list of 30 books so that you’ll be able to vote on your favorite in April 2015.  The books are available for everyone to read, but only students in grades 4-8 are able to vote.
