July 6, 4 – 6pm, Artists Reception, Mr. Gilmore’s View – Drop in to meet Ed Kadunc and to view his paintings and drawings of the Peacham area.

July 8, 7:00pm, Freedom and Unity: The Vermont Movie — Part Three – Refuge, Reinvention and Revolution, explores innovators, the creation of the interstate highways and the high price of “eminent domain,” and the “hippies” who established roots in Vermont

July 10, 6:30pm, Herb Club – Learn how to use herbs for both medicinal and culinary purposes. Herbal testing with the Ayurvedic herb, Gymnema, Destroyer of Sweet. Followed by another herb walk.  Note new day!

July 11, 9:00 am, Preschool Story Time stories and crafts for the young and their caregivers.

July 11, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

Looking Ahead

July 14, 5:30pm, Is It Going to Rain?  Ask the Cows! – Mark Breen will be here with a light-hearted look at the weather.  Geared for children, but all are welcome to attend.

July 14, 7pm, Annual Meeting with Mark Breen – Join us for our 204th Annual Meeting and the start of our Summer Series — Earth, Wind, Fire, and Beyond.  Mark Breen will be speaking on Vermont Weather, Past, Present and Future.

July 15, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – During World War II, a platoon, known as the Monuments Men, were tasked with saving priceless artistic masterpieces and returning them to their rightful owners. PG-13

July 16, 9am, French Club – Time to practice your French with songs, stories and games.

July 17, 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – The group will discuss The Garlic Ballads by Mo Yan. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book.

July 18, 9am, Fiber Friday – Fiber fun for all ages. This month’s project will be pot holders.

July 19, Game Day – Families 4 – 6pm, Pizza for all 6 – 7pm, Adults 7 – 9pm – Drop by the library to play your favorite games or try a new one. We’ll have chess, Scrabble, Rummy, Wits & Wagers, and Dominion, as well as two new games – Tapple and Cross Ways. As with all gaming events, we encourage you to bring your favorite games to share.

July 21– 25, 9:30-11:00 am, Fizz, Boom, Read! Camp — — All things science and more. Sign up required; children 5 and under must come with an adult.

July 22, 7:00pm, Freedom and Unity: The Vermont Movie — Part Four – Doers and Shapers, explores the people and institutions that push boundaries in education, progressive movements and civil unions

July 24, 7:00pm, Summer Series – Earth, Wind, Fire, and Beyond – Adam Kane, Director of the Fairbanks Museum, speaking on Shipwrecks of Lake Champlain.

Of Interest

We added quite a few new items to the collection in June.  Drop in during regular hours to check them out.  You can also send us an email to have us hold an item (or two, or three, or…).   Remember we have passes for Vermont State Parks, Vermont Historical Sites, Vermont History Museum, Echo Museum, and The Precision Museum available to borrow, too!

Here are the reading statistics so far this summer — Adult Fiction — 75 books, Juvenile Fiction — 66 books, Adult Non-Fiction — 14 (600’s leading), Juvenile Non-Fiction — 5 books (600’s and 700’s tied).
