This week at the library — December 7, 2014

07 Dec

Thank you to all who braved the snow to support Friends of Peacham Library at their annual High Holiday Tea.  Thank you, too, to all who donated items for the raffle, food for the table, and tea for the cup.  A good time was had by all.

Upcoming Events

December 11, 1 – 7pm, Coding Day – Take a break from the holidays and join us at the library for an hour of code.  Try your hand at writing code for a game, an art piece, an app or an arduino!  There are many tutorials to try, each only an hour-long.  To help you out, we’ll also have people on hand with coding experience throughout the day.  Can’t make it to the library, check out the “Hour of Code” website.  Suitable for ALL ages!

December 12, 9:00 am, Story Time Stories and crafts for the young and their caregivers.

December 12, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!  Interested in being a host / hostess?  Please let us know if you are as we are looking for folks who would like to host once a month.

December 13, 10am – noon, Santa, Crafts and Latkes — a party for the whole family.  Start the morning with crafts, followed by a visit from the man in red, and end with a feast of latkes and applesauce.xmas_craft

December 13, 1pm, Herb Club – Brew a yummy pot of chaga chai and make herbal products such as salves, dream pillows, face and hand cream, tea blends, bath bombs and more.  Projects are not time consuming, so there is a potential for completing 2 or 3 projects.  RSVP (call the library at 592-3216) is required to ensure materials are available.  If you are interested in leading a project, please contact the library.

Holiday Adopt a Books are Here!  Looking for a unique present for that someone special?  Adopt a book at the library! Here’s how it works: Select a book from those available or suggest a book to the librarian.  After you pay the library for the book we’ll put a special adoption label in and check the book out to your special someone.  When the person has read the book, return it for others to enjoy – both the book and your generosity.  Books may be adopted for people, pets, entities, the library, almost anyone.
