This week at the library — August 9, 2015

August 9, 4:00 pm, Author Talk with Stuart O’Brien – Nonagenarian and StuartO'Brien Peacham resident, Stuart O’Brien will discuss his book, Wildwood, a World War II love story. Books are available at the library for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the library.

August 10, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters — Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers— Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. There is also a jigsaw puzzle available for those who prefer this activity.

August 11 – 13 – 17, 9:30 am – 11:00 am – Robotics Camp – Build and program Lego NXT robots. (sign up required by August 7 as space is very limited).

August 13, 6:30 pm, Herb Club – Join the members of Herb Club for an evening herb walk in Peacham. Herb Club is open to anyone, even if you have no experience with herbs.

August 14, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

August 14, 5:00 – 7:00pm, August 15, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, Friends of Peacham Library Ice Cream at PAMFest – Drop by the tennis courts during PAMFest to buy ice cream (and toppings!) from Friends of Peacham Library. Your purchase supports book purchases and programs at the library.

Looking Ahead

August 18, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – “Big Hero 6” A young robotics whiz, Hiro Hamada (voiceJoshua Lakin of Ryan Potter), leaps into action with his tech-savvy friends, and his robot companion Baymax to save the metropolis of San Fransokyo. Rated PG.

August 18, 7:00 pm, Health Talk with Dr. Josh – Dr. Josh Lakin will discuss “Planning in Serious Illness: The Conversation.” A talk about how the medical specialty of Palliative Care thinks about these conversations and a brief introduction to some of the tools available for preparing for and recording these conversations with your family or your physician

August 20 7:00 pm, Summer Series – Purposeful Travel – Beatrice DeRocco Ring presents“A Journey of Discovery” Journey with Beatrice as she recreates (over six years) the around-the-world trip her father and uncle made in 1928 (in a single year) using only ships, trains and cars, and taking pictures similar to the ones taken in 1928.

August 21, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!
