July 4, 4:00 pm, Reading Fredrick Douglas Join us as we read together the fiery July 5, 1852 speech in which the great abolitionist orator Frederick Douglass took exception to being asked to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This is a participatory event. Community members are invited to witness and/or join in the reading. Copies of the speech will be provided.

July 6, 6:45 pm, Family Movie: “Zootopia” The Library will offer a special Family Movie Night at the Peacham Library Community Room, designed to serve as childcare by donation ($10 suggested) for those attending the Zookeepers performance at the church. Kids can enjoy a PG-rated movie, popcorn and lemonade, and PJs are encouraged!
July 6, 7:00 pm, David Rosane and the ZOOKeepers Concert: Peacham Congregational Church, 56 Church St. A fundraising event in support of Peacham Library. 2018 istheyear that VERMONT LIBRARIES ROCK!, with Green Mountain Indie folk-rock band “DAVID ROSANE & THE ZOOKEEPERS” embarking on a summer-long LIBRARY BENEFIT TOUR to raise funds and advocate for literacy, community and #FreedomOfSpeech, with the accompanying release of their new album “BOOK of ZOO”. Following the performance will be a ice-cream social featuring Artesano ice cream by donation at the Peacham Library Community Room (656 Bayley Hazen Rd, Peacham, VT 05862).
July 8, 3:00-5:30 pm, Friendly Folk Music Jam Open to acoustic instrument players of any skill level interested in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere to share folk or old-time music. Come share your talent and a simple song (3 or 4 chords). Don’t play an instrument? Listeners are always welcome!

July 19, 7:00 pm, SUMMER SERIES:The Peacham Historical Association The summer series guest speaker will be the board of The Peacham Historical Association. PHA’s archive contains a wealth of items and artifacts relevant to the Peacham community. PHA President and board members will use their backgrounds in art history and other humanities to discuss the histories of specific artifacts from the collection, and the stories that these items can tell us here in the present day.

July 26, 7:00 pm, SUMMER SERIES: Erica Heilman The summer series guest speaker will be Erica Heilman, producer of the Rumble Strip podcast, who will lead a conversation about the finding and the making of stories using sound, including lots of audio samples from her work. Her podcast, which airs monthly on VPR, features the extraordinary lives of ordinary people – mostly Vermonters – including some local voices.
