Dirty dancing

October 16, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre: “Dirty Dancing” – The story of the romance between a “daddy’s girl” and bad boy dance instructor during a summer the spent at a family resort in the Catskills.  Runtime 100 minutes. Rated PG-13.

October 16, 5:00 pm, Friends of Peacham Library – Join the FOPL in their support of the library.

October 17, 10:00 am, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention – Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH. Continue your practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting.

October 18, 1:00 pm, Afternoon Activities    Peacham Elementary School early release day. Spend your afternoon at the library for “Hotel Transylvania 3”  at 1 pm.  We will have 4 stations for creating Halloween crafts from 3 – 4 pm.  Snacks will be served. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult.  Homeschoolers welcome too!

October 18, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight    Join us for a discussion “Killers of the Flower Moon” by David Grann.  November’s title will be “Nine Lives” by Dan Baum. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of either book.

October 19, 10:00 am – noon, Coffee Hour – A chance to drink a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy a sweet or two, and chat with your friends and neighbors.

October 22, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting.  Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle while you chat.

October 23, 7:00 pm, Genetic Genealogy with Alana Considine – Genetic genealogy takes DNA testing beyond paternity tests to uncover connections to individuals and ethnic groups. You’re thinking of testing, but should you choose Ancestry, 23andMe, Family Tree DNA, My Heritage or one of the many companies new on the scene? Already tested? How do you get the most from your results? Alana will discuss the differences between DNA testing companies, how to interpret results, and just enough genetics to make sense of it all. She will also delve into the ethical issues of genealogical genetic testing.
