This Week at the Library – July 8

July 8, 6:00 pm, Peacham Energy Committee – Check in and see what this town committee is working on. This month’s meeting will be upstairs in the library.

July 8, 6:00 pm, Annual Library Board Meeting – This annual meeting will include reports from the trustees and director and election of new trustees to the board. All meetings are open to the public. At 7:00 pm Guest Jane Beck will speak on “Catching People’s Stories”.  Beck is founder and former executive director of the Vermont Folklife Center. This is a reflective talk on why people tell stories, what they mean to an individual, and examples of how they are used.

July 9, 6:30 pm, Peacham Community Housing – This group is a non-profit, charitable organization, supporting and enabling community projects that contribute to Peacham’s quality of living.

July 9, 7:00 pm, Peacham Fire District #1 – The regular monthly meeting is open to the public.

July 10, 10:00 am, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention -Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH. Continue your practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting.

July 11, 5:30 pm, Story Time at the Farmer’s Market – Join us at the Farmer’s Market this summer as the Library brings stories, and a craft to the Peacham Farmer’s Market.  Everyone is welcome. 

July 11, 5:30 pm, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention: Level 2 – Continue learning about this ancient practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting. Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH.

July 12, 10:00 am – noon, Coffee Hour – A chance to drink a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy a sweet or two, and chat with your friends and neighbors.

July 12, 9:30 am – 10:30 am, Tie Dye and Ice Cream – Our popular annual event – create a beautiful t-shirt and make some fresh ice cream. All ages welcome, with adult helpers as needed. Register at the library, so we are sure to have a shirt in your size!

July 12, 5:30 pm, Pizza and Ice Cream Dinner – Fundraising dinner at the Peacham Town Tennis Court (across the street from the church). Woodbelly Pizza will be serving up delicious wood-fired pies made to order, along with Artesano Ice Cream sundaes. All food purchases are by donation to benefit the Peacham Library, and no reservations are required

July 12, 6:45 pm, Family Movie: “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” – The Library will offer a special Family Movie Night in the Peacham Library Community Room, designed to serve as childcare by donation for those attending the Zookeepers performance at the church. Kids can enjoy a PG-rated movie, popcorn and lemonade, and PJs are encouraged! Suggested donation $10 per child. Please register in advance through Eventbrite at https://peachamlibraryzookeepersbenefit.eventbrite.com.  Running Time 104 minutes. Rated PG.

July 12, 7:00 pm, David Rosane & the Zookeepers – at the Peacham Congregational Church. This tour supports Vermont libraries and shines a light on their pivotal role in our communities. The Peacham Library is one of 16 libraries to be supported by this tour.cOpening act Platinum Tide, featuring the Marcotte brothers Owen and Aden, and Cameron Clark, will bring youthful energy and local flavor to the performance.  Suggested donation $15; tickets are available in advance through Eventbrite at https://peachamlibraryzookeepersbenefit.eventbrite.com.

July 16, 9:30 am, Space Camp – Space activities for any aspiring astronaut to enjoy! This is a family program with challenges for all ages. Children under 8 should be accompanied by parent or caregiver. Please register with the library at least one week in advance.

.July 16, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre: “Bohemian Rhapsody” – Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. 2 hours 13 minutes. PG-13.

July 18, 1:30 pm, Movie and a Craft: “The Cat From Outer SpaceCome and wach this classic movie. Stay and craft a crazy cat! Children under 8 should be accompanied by parent or caregiver.

July 21, 2:00 pm, Kingdom Mountain Dulcimer Ensemble Concert – Join us for a delightful Sunday afternoon with beautiful music! Please come out to hear an hour of traditional and multicultural music on the mountain dulcimer, including a brief history of this American folk instrument. This is a free event!
