This Week at the Library – July 15

July 16, 9:30 am, Space Camp – Space activities for any aspiring astronaut to enjoy! This is a family program with challenges for all ages. Children under 8 should be accompanied by parent or caregiver. Have you registered? Please call the library if you are interested in attending. We need a minimum of 6 children signed up for this event!

.July 16, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre: “Bohemian Rhapsody” – Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. 2 hours 13 minutes. PG-13.

July 17, 10:00 am, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention – Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH. Continue your practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting.

July 18, 1:30 pm, Movie and a Craft: “The Cat From Outer SpaceCome and wach this classic movie. Stay and craft a crazy cat! Children under 8 should be accompanied by parent or caregiver.

July 18, 5:30 pm, Story Time at the Farmer’s Market – Join us at the Farmer’s Market this summer as the Library brings stories, and a craft to the Peacham Farmer’s Market.  Everyone is welcome. 

July 18, 5:30 pm, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention: Level 2 – Continue learning about this ancient practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting. Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH.

July 18, Readers’ Delight Rescheduled – The group will meet next week. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book. 

July 19, 10:00 am – noon, Coffee Hour – A chance to drink a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy a sweet or two, and chat with your friends and neighbors.

July 21, 2:00 pm, Kingdom Mountain Dulcimer Ensemble Concert – Join us for a delightful afternoon with beautiful music! Please come out to hear an hour of traditional and multicultural music on the mountain dulcimer, including a brief history of this American folk instrument. This is a free event!

July 22, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting.  Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle while you chat.

July 25, 7:00 pm, Tick Awareness Presentation – Jennifer Simon of the Vermont Department of Health will share information on all things ticks.  This includes:

  • The tick life cycle
  • Diseases (in Vermont) that ticks carry and the ticks that carry them
  • Disease trends
  • Tick migration trends
  • Understanding tick behavior
  • How to protect yourself from ticks

July 25, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight – Join us for a discussion of  “Circe” by Madeline Miller. In the mood for some music?

The library has been given two season’s passes for the Craftsbury Chamber Players’ 2019 season. Each pass is good for any date on the concert schedule. Passes can be reserved by calling the library or stopping by to pick them up, first come, first served. Concerts are at the Hardwick Town House on Thursday evenings thru August 15th. Concerts start at 7:30 PM (Pre-show chat starts at 6:45). Limit of one slot per family. Children under 12 attend free.
Dates: July 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15. Passes should be returned by the noon on the following Monday.
