August 8, 7:00 pm, Summer Series: Peacham Landings: FARMING – Who comes to Peacham to farm? What are some unique meanings of farming in current times? Be among the first to see the short film premier: DUCKS on the GOLD SHAW FARM by MORGAN GOLD. Learn about a new generation of farmer, one who uses social media as a tool on his specialty farm. Conversation to follow. Did you come here to farm? We will explore the long tradition of coming to Peacham to farm and what that may mean today.

August 10, 1:00 pm, Woof! What’s the Dog Saying? – Is a yawn always just a yawn? Why does a dog shake off even when it’s not wet? Why is growling good? Is a tail wag always friendly?This multi-media extravaganza of fun helps us all understand what dogs say to us with their bodies. We’ll demystify dog communication, reveal some common dog-human misunderstandings, and learn how we can all live safely and happily together. After the presentation, the audience gets to engage in exercises to practice reading dog body language. (Shhhh…this is for humans only…dogs must be left at home!)

August 15, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight – Join us for a discussion of “Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania” by Erik Larsen. The book looks at the sinking of Lusitania during World War I and the events surrounding the sinking. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book.
