This Week at the Library – March 9

March 9, 6:00 pm, Peacham Energy Committee – Check in and see what this town committee is working on. 

March 9, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers and Scrabblers – Bring your knitting or other handwork, work on the current jigsaw puzzle while enjoying lively company and conversation. We will also have the the Scrabble™ board for any interested wordsmiths. 

March 10, 1:30 pm, Aging Well in Peacham: – This event is open to everyone. Enjoy an afternoon at the library, with food, fun and socializing with this monthly group. 

March 10, 6:30 pm, Peacham Community Housing – This group is a non-profit, charitable organization, supporting and enabling community projects that contribute to Peacham’s quality of living.

March 10, 7:00 pm, Peacham Fire District #1 – The regular monthly meeting is open to the public.

March 11, 10:00 am, Tai Chi for Fall Prevention -Sponsored by Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging and SASH. Continue your practice, building strength and balance in a quiet setting. All levels.

March 13, 10:00 am – noon, Coffee Hour – A chance to drink a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy a sweet or two, and chat with your friends and neighbors.

March 14, 7:00 pm, Alcoholics Anonymous – Weekly meeting.

March 15, 12:30 pm, Soil Blocking Garden Gathering and Potluck – Spring is getting closer! This month we will be making soil blocks for starting seedlings. All are welcome. Bring seeds to share again this month, if you’d like. Bring a dish to share.

March 15, 5:00 pm, Soup and Stories – A potluck dinner that includes a story time for the kids. Bring along something to share. Soccer families are welcome to join us after the game, too.

March 17, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre: “The Peanut Butter Falcon” – A young boy with Down syndrome runs away to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Rated PG-13.Running Time 96 minutes.

March 19, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight – Join us for a discussion of  2 titles: “In the Garden of beasts” by Eric Larson and “Dr. Seuss Goes to War” by Richard Minear. “Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the books.

March 20, 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm, Quilting Circle – Do you love to sew? Whether you make quilts now or would like to learn, gather with us to show-and-tell what you are working on – or stuck one! This is a new group to support local quilters.

March 22, 4:30 pm, Author Talk: Abdi Nor Iftin – “Call Me American” – As a child in war-torn Mogadishu, Abdi Nor Iftin learned English by watching action movies. When U.S. Marines landed to take on the warlords, Abdi cheered the arrival of these real-life American action heroes.
