- First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week, is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.
National Library Week will be observed April 19-25, 2020 with the theme, “Find Your Place at the Library/Find the Library at Your Place.”
Thank you for celebrating with us this week. Each day you will receive a short newsletter with information about the library and what it offers to the community. You can help us by taking this very short survey
Need Books? We Can Now Help!
We have received the okay from the Peacham Emergency Response Team that we may now deliver materials to those Peacham residents who request them. No interlibrary loan requests can be filled at this time. We will fill requests once per week. We are delivering so that you do not need to leave your home during the Stay at Home / Stay Safe declaration.
Those without internet access will be given first priority. Contact us by phone: 802.592.3216 or email.
All requests received before Thursday 9:00 am will be delivered that day. You will be contacted about details (how to find your house, where to leave the books, etc.).
Would you like to know what’s new? Check in during Zoom Hours on Monday to see some of our newest titles.
Zoom hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am – 12 noon, staff will be available via a ZOOM connection. You don’t need a reason to stop in virtually and say hi – we miss seeing everyone! You can also ask questions about ListenUp or any of our new online serves. Don’t have a library card? You can talk to us about that (For your privacy, we will ask for your personal details offline and after the meeting.) On Mondays there will be a preview of any new books or movies we may be adding to the collection. On Fridays, bring your cup of coffee and show off what you have baked – even though we can’t share! There is a call in option, for those without a computer. It is a long distance call, but the library will be happy to reimburse you.

Invitations can also found on the Library’s Calendar.

EARTH DAY FLAGS TO SUPPORT VERMONT FARMERS
Need a project? Wednesday is Earth Day and NOFA is suggesting we all make flags that include:
“VERMONT FARMERS FEED US ALL (or a similar message of your choice) and decorate with drawings of farmers in your community, local foods you love or signs of spring like peepers, robins and green grass!”
https://nofavt.org/blog/make-earth-day-flag-celebrate-vermont-farmers
Show them off during our Wednesday morning zoom (10-12) and post them on the library’s facebook page. We will award 2 prizes. Winners will be randomly selected from all zoom participants and posts to the facebook page by midnight Wednesday April 22. Please tag @nofa-vt, so they can see your work too! (Don’t do facebook? Send us the photo and permission to post (we can do it anonymously if you prefer). Don’t have fabric and paint? We will happily accept a drawing too!
