On Friday, May 29, Governor Scott announced that libraries MAY open as long as they can meet the occupancy limit, as well as safety and signage requirements, but that curbside pickup remains the preferred method of operation. While the state government has indicated libraries in Vermont are allowed to re-open with a limited capacity, the Peacham Library board and director wish to be prudent and careful when considering the health and safety of our community.
For these reasons, we will continue porch pickup for the foreseeable future. To request a porch pickup of library materials, please call the library or email circ@peachamlibrary.org. If you need a library card, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/TWXAUJBQ4excrMY26 . Don’t forget that we also have Kanopy, a streaming movie service for patrons, and ListenUp Vermont, a source for downloading eBooks and audiobooks.
We will also continue to host our Friday Coffee Hours, Readers’ Delight and other programs on Zoom. We would also be happy to “Zoom host” any meeting or gathering for groups in the community.
We are grateful for the patience and support from the community as we try to make library materials and services safely available at this difficult time. We will continue to review the latest information and to prepare our building and collections for the eventual re-opening to the public.
This process will move in phases from porch pickup, (with the option to extend hours if there is a need), to limited access for services (computer use, printing, copying), followed by more open access and eventual full library use. The timeline for this process is yet to be determined. We look forward to that day when we can welcome all of the community into the library.
