Alan Greenleaf was a beloved songwriter, guitarist, and singer; small farmer of beef cattle, maple syrup, honey, and hay. Self-taught finger pickin’ guitarist, he never shied away from sharing the gritty hardships, humor, sadness, and beauty of life as a backwoods farmer in the Northeast Kingdom.
Jonathan Kaplan “The Doctor” and Carol Hausner will play songs written by Alan, on what would have been his 80th birthday. Alan “was a songwriter and storyteller of truth and emotion” whose songs brilliantly capture life in the Kingdom. His performances throughout Vermont entertained and touched many throughout the years.
The Doctor, Alan’s longtime duo partner, will be on piano. Carol, Doc’s duo partner and a fellow songwriter of Alan’s, will be on guitar. Together they will sing a wide range of songs from the Greenleaf Songbook, including favorites and lesser-known songs. Frequent performers throughout Vermont, they look forward to presenting heartfelt renditions of Alan’s great songs on this special day.
