March 4, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, Community Coffeehouse – Fifth Business returns to kickoff the evening and then at 8pm we open the mic to anyone interested in performing.

March 9, 7:00 pm, Green Burial   Do you try and make environmentally conscious choices in your life? Are you aware of the impact the resources we use have on our air, water, and soil? Are you concerned about protecting the planet for future generations? This educational program is hosted by end-of-life specialist and green burial educator, Michelle Acciavatti, wildlife biologist and green burial advocate Carl Anderson, and Suzanne Kelly Chair of the town of Rhinebeck Hybrid Cemetery and author of Greening Death.

March 16, 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi.  In April the book will be Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of either book.

March 18, 4:00pm, Cooking the Book — Announcing a NEW book mmagroup.  Everyone will select one (yup, just one) recipe from the same cookbook (yup, just one cookbook) to make and share. Our first cookbook will be Mma Ramotswe’s Cookbook by Stuart Brown. We will gather on Saturday, March 18 at 4pm to share our cooking and thoughts about the recipes. Stop by the library to select a recipe.   Don’t want to cook?  Talk to the librarian about how you can join the discussion.

February 23, 7:00 pm, Winter Series – Joe Alper, The Hard Problem Of Consciousness – The “hard problem” of consciousness involves the explanation of what it is like to have experiences of things like colors and pains.  Can science and psychology explain these phenomena or will a new theory be
needed, one which will have implications for understanding both human minds and computer artificial intelligence?

February 4, 7:00 9:00 pm, Community Coffeehouse – Jonathan Kaplan and Carol Hausner will be the headliners for this month’s kaplancoffeehouse.  Jonathan’s joyful keyboard playing and resonant vocals blend effortlessly with Carol’s singing and playing to capture the essence of the Americana, roots and original music they perform. An open mic for those who wish to share their music will be available at 8pm.  Coffee, tea, cider and snacks will be on hand.
