August 24, 7:00 pm — Climate Change:  The Science and the Skeptics  presented by Joe Alper– The science of climate change, both theory and evidence, shows that the earth is warming and that this warming is primarily due to human activity.  After presenting the science, Joe will argue that we should accept this science as true and therefore are justified in acting to slow and eventually reverse global warming.  Finally, Joe will evaluate the various arguments of the skeptics and deniers.

Build A Better Robot — August 8 – 10 from 9:30 – 11:00 am,  Build and program a robot.(signup required by August 4; suitable for those 9 and up, including adults!)

Summer Reading Logs —  Everyone is welcome to pickup a reading log starting June 2nd!

Passport to Vermont Libraries — Pickup a Passport to Vermont Libraries and then visit libraries throughout the state to collect stamps in your passport and maybe a prize or two.

Museum and Park Passes — Checkout passes for free or reduced admission to VT State Parks and Historical Sites, ECHO Museum, American Precision Museum or
the Vermont Historical Museum.

This month the cookbook will be The Confederacy of Dunces Cookbook by Cynthia LeJeune Nobles. We will gather to share our cooking and thoughts about the recipes. Stop by the library to select a recipe.   You do not need to cook to participate, but please let the librarian know that you will be attending so that the cooks make enough!

Wild Flowers at the Library

Beginning in May, there will be an ongoing and constantly changing wildflower table in the library.  The table will display wildflowers in bloom in the Peacham area.  The exhibit will draw upon the knowledge of Joan Churchill, longtime Peacham resident and wildflower enthusiast, for identification and historical comment.  For more information, or if you are interested in helping with this project, please contact the library, Kalanani Gallas or Ken Kraus.

It’s flea market time again! We’re seeking good quality flea market items for the Friends of Peacham Library to sell at Peacham’s Annual Flea Market (9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 29, downstairs in the Peacham Congregational Church). No clothing or books, please.
