What is a fibershed, why is it important and how can you support it? Jane will talk about the mission of the Vermont Fibershed to promote local natural fiber production and processing within the state and nearby region. The VT Fibershed  supports sustainable practices that honor land resources and New England’s historical contributions to textile production. The goal is to link producers: from farmers to finished products to consumers at all levels.

Travis is co-owner, COO, and Director of Business Development for ZION Growers, an industrial hemp processing and value added products company located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. he company’s goal is getting it from its raw form in a farmer’s field into a material that can be turned into clothes, fuel pellets, or plastics by processing  the hemp plant and turning it into bales of fiber and piles of hurd, which looks similar to wood chips. Learn how ZION Growers evolved from a CBD focused venture to a fiber based processor, the pitfalls they encountered, the market research they did to assess and confirm the potential for their current iteration.
