July 19, 1:15pm, Tuesday Theatre – In keeping with the summer reading theme of “On your marks, get set, READ!” and the summer Olympics, we present “Race,” the true story of Olympic legend Jesse Owens.

July 21, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight – This month’s book is The Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks.  Books are available at the library if you would like to join the discussion.

July 22, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

This week at the library — May 4, 2014

May 4, 4:00 – 6:00pm – Artists’ Reception for Elementary Art – Elementaryposter040914forweba show of art created by students from Peacham Elementary School. Artwork includes self-portraits, works looking forwards and back, tubular art, a mural of South Peacham and photograms.

May 5, 7:00pm, Peacham Library Board Meeting – Meetings are open to the public.

May 6, 4:15 – 5:30pm, Peacham Post Office Meeting – Peacham Library will be closed to allow staff to attend the community meeting on the status of the town’s Post Office. The Post Office has invited the community to this meeting at the Post Office to hear input on new hours and services.

May 8, 7:00pm, Extreme Home Composting – As part of International Compost Awareness Week we will screen Highfields Center for Composting webinar on Extreme Home Composting. Nick Comerci, President of the Highfields board, will be on hand to kick off the evening and to answer questions. Bring a few scraps and other potential compostables and we’ll start our own compost here at the library.

May 9, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

May 10, 1 – 3pm, Herb Club – Herb nerd fun or how to use herbs for both medicinal and culinary purposes. No experience necessary, just an interest in herbs. May topics – a weed walk (the weather has got to be better by the second week in May, right?).

May 13 6:30pm, Peacham Knitters – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. New knitters are welcome to come for help and encouragement.

May 15, 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – The group will discuss The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book.

May 16, 9:00 am, Preschool Story Time – stories and crafts for the young and their caregivers.

May 16, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

May 19, 5:15pm, Friends of Peacham Library – The Friends organize events and fundraisers in support of the library with funds raised used to support book purchases and programs.  Please consider joining the Friends and helping in their efforts.

This week at the library — September 30

October 1, 5:30pm – Board Retreat

October 4, 9am – 3pm, Fall Foliage Book and Food Sale, stop by early for the best prices on books, and the sweetest treats!  Proceeds from the sale support the library and the Friends.

October 4, 6:30, Fall Foliage Movie – Peacham becomes Gilead, Maine in this film, starring Ellen Burstyn, about a small town down on its luck.  There will be people on hand to tell you about the location of Spitfire Grill, the jail cell, the realtor’s office, and other insider views of the movie.  The film is rated PG-13.

October 5, 9:00am, Preschool Story Time, stories, crafts and activities for the young and their parents.

October 5, 10am – noon, Coffee Hour – Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation.  Suitable for all ages!

October 7, starting time 10am – noon, Biking For Books, the best 10, 28 or 53 miles you’ll ever ride in support of Peacham Library.  Rain last weekend forced the postponement of the ride.  We hope this weekend will be nicer!

Job Opening — Peacham Library is seeking a flexible, friendly Assistant Librarian with excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, basic familiarity with library services, and a willingness to learn.  A college degree is desirable.  Submit a letter of interest, resume and names of three references by October 5, 2012 to peachamlibrary@gmail.com.    More details are given further down this page.
