October 2, 6:00 pm, Board Meeting — Meetings are open to the public.

October 5 Fall Foliage Day

  • 9 am -4 pm – Book Sale
  • 6:30 pm – The annual showing of The Spitfire Grill, a movie filmed in Peacham

October 6, 9:15 am, Story Time – Stories, a craft, and a bit of running around.  Everyone is welcome.

October 6, 10 am – noon, Coffee Hour – Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

October 6, 6:00 pm, Family Movie – “Paddington” – Enjoy some cocoa,paddington popcorn and a great movie.  PJs optional.  All children must be accompanied by an adult. Rated PG.

October 7, 8:30 am, Collaborator’s Meeting – The Collaborator’s is a group who meet every other month to discuss / help organizations in Peacham.  Please join us as we help each other and the community.

October 8, 2:00pm – 4:00pm – Fiber Fest – Celebrate National Spinning and Weaving week by learning a weaving technique – simple, hand-held methods of weaving will be available to try.

October 8, 4:00pm – 6:00pm – Artist’s Reception – Cecelia Kane will be on hand to talk about the art in her new show “A Year of Forgetting.”

October 9 , 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers — Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle.

October 11, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Introduction to Yoga – Continuation of an introduction to basic yoga poses, breathing and meditation with instructor Kalanani Gallas.  There is a fee.

October 11, 7:00pm – Great Decisions –Worried about the state of the world? The prospect of nuclear weapons and materials falling into the wrong hands? Peacham Library will host Great Decisions in Foreign Policy, a discussion program focusing on the most critical global issues facing America today. Each topic is presented in a half-hour documentary, and then thrown open for a moderated hour-long discussion. Our first topic will be Nuclear Security.

October 13, 10 am – noon, Coffee Hour – Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

October 17  7:00pm – Travel Series – Locations and travels to be announced, or not, ahead of time.  Rest assured each evening will bring you to another place and time.

Fiber Day – Date/Time TBA – Learn a fiber craft

Great Decisions, Date/Time TBA — Worried about the state of the world? The prospect of nuclear weapons and materials falling into the wrong hands? Want to know more about the war in Afghanistan, now the longest in U.S. history? Peacham Library will host Great Decisions in Foreign Policy, a discussion program focusing on the most critical global issues facing America today. Topics for 2017 range from threats to our nuclear security to pressures on the European Union to the fraying status quo in Saudi Arabia. Each topic is presented in a half-hour documentary, and then thrown open for a moderated hour-long discussion. Great decisions is a creation of the nonprofit nonpartisan Foreign Policy Association, founded in 1918 and dedicated to developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion on global issues, and encouraging citizens to participate in the foreign policy process.

Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of any of these books.

August 18, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and August 19, 11 am – 7:00 pm, Friends of Peacham Library Ice Cream at PAMFest – Drop by the tennis courts during PAMFest to buy ice cream (and toppings!) from Friends of Peacham Library.  Your purchase supports book purchases and programs at the library.

June 1, 10:30am, Summer Reading Program Modern Times TheaterKickoff at Peacham Elemenatary School — Modern Times Theater will present “The Perils of Mr. Punch,” as a prelude to the library’s “Build a Better World” summer program.   Sponsored, in part, by the Vermont Department of Libraries.   All are welcome to attend.

May 27, 4:00pm, Cooking the Book — Join us for our seconconfederacy of duncesd cookbook.  The cooks select one recipe from the same cookbook to make and share. This month the cookbook will be The Confederacy of Dunces Cookbook by Cynthia LeJeune Nobles. We will gather to share our cooking and thoughts about the recipes. Stop by the library to select a recipe.   You do not need to cook to participate, but please let the librarian know that you will be attending so that the cooks make enough!

Wild Flowers at the Library

Beginning in May, there will be an ongoing and constantly changing wildflower table in the library.  The table will display wildflowers in bloom in the Peacham area.  The exhibit will draw upon the knowledge of Joan Churchill, longtime Peacham resident and wildflower enthusiast, for identification and historical comment.  For more information, or if you are interested in helping with this project, please contact the library, Kalanani Gallas or Ken Kraus.
