This week at the library — May 21, 2017

May 22, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers — Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting.  Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle.

May 26, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

May 27, 4:00pm, Cooking the Book — Join us for our second cookbook.  The cooks select one recipe from the confederacy of duncessame cookbook to make and share. This month the cookbook will be The Confederacy of Dunces Cookbook by Cynthia LeJeune Nobles. We will gather to share our cooking and thoughts about the recipes. Stop by the library to select a recipe.   You do not need to cook to participate, but please let the librarian know that you will be attending so that the cooks make enough!

May 31, 7:00pm, Single-Payer Health Care Discussion – Betty Keller, MD, will share a the film “The Healthcare Movie” describing the evolution of healthcare insurance in Canada and the US and then lead a discussion on what a single-payer healthcare system might mean for Vermont and the US.

June 1, 10:00am, Summer Reading Program Kickoff at PeachamModern Times Theater Elemenatary School — Modern Times Theater will present “The Perils of Mr. Punch,” as a prelude to the library’s “Build a Better World” summer program.  All are welcome to attend.

June 2, 9:15am, Story Time — Stories and crafts for the young and the young at heart

June 2, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

June 2, 6:00pm, Family Movie — Enjoy some cocoa, popcorn, and a great movie.  PJs optional.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This week at the library — March

March 6, 7:00 pm, Board Meeting – Meetings are open to the public.

March 7, TOWN MEETING – The library will open after the conclusion of Town Meeting.

March 9, 7:00 pm, Green Burial   Do you try and make environmentally conscious choices in your life? Are you aware of the impact the resources we use have on our air, water, and soil? Are you concerned about protecting the planet for future generations? This educational program is hosted by end-of-life specialist and green burial educator, Michelle Acciavatti, wildlife biologist and green burial advocate Carl Anderson, and Suzanne Kelly Chair of the town of Rhinebeck Hybrid Cemetery and author of Greening Death.

March 10, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

March 15, 5:30 pm, Friends of Peacham Library – Join FOPL in their support of the library!

March 16, 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi.  In April the book will be Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of either book.

March 17, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

March 18, 4:00pm, Cooking the Book — Announcing a NEW book mmagroup.  Everyone will select one (yup, just one) recipe from the same cookbook (yup, just one cookbook) to make and share. Our first cookbook will be Mma Ramotswe’s Cookbook by Stuart Brown. We will gather on Saturday, March 18 at 4pm to share our cooking and thoughts about the recipes. Stop by the library to select a recipe.   Don’t want to cook?  Talk to the librarian about how you can join the discussion.

This week at the library — October 18, 2015

October 19, noon, Friends of Peacham Library –Friends plan great events in support of the library.

October 20, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – Spencer Tracy, Sid Caesar, Milton Berle, Ethel Merman and four other all-star comedians star in this mad-cap, zany movie. It’s a crazy world, or maybe a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad one, when eight vacation-bound travelers learn the location of a stolen treasure in a chance meeting with a stranger. Be ready for the laughs and a zany time. Rated G.

October 20, 7:00pm, Asperger’s Support Group – This is the first meeting of a new support group for parents and /or guardians of children, teens, or young adults with Asperger’s syndrome or high functioning autism.

October 23, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!
