January 12, 7pm, Winter Lecture Series — Geoffrey Fried, Design and the Science of Learning — How we can apply science of learning to teaching in Design and the Visual Arts, providing some examples of what it really takes to teach students to be “creative.”

January 13, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

January 14, 1:00pm, Herb Club — Join the members of Herb Club for a discussion about herbs and their uses.  No experience necessary.

January 19 7:00pm, Readers’ Delight – Malgudi Days, by R.K. Narayan is this month’s book.  Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of the book.

January 26, 7:00 pm, Winter Series – Julie Lang, Save Your Pie for Dessert:  The Tricky Business of Visualizing Data — What you see is what you get, right?  Not necessarily…your eyes might deceive you.  We’ll take a look at common graphics and how they lead you to particular interpretations.  You’ll have a chance to weigh in.  What do you see?

November 24, Thanksgiving – CLOSED.

November 25, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

December 2, 9:15am, Story Time — Stories and play for the young and young at heart.

December 2, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

December 2, 6:00pm, Family Movie – “Polar Express” – Enjoy some cocoa, popcorn and a great movie.  PJ’s optional. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

December 3, 2 – 4 pm, High Holiday Tea — Sip a cup of tea and visit with your neighbors. Sample our sweet and savory delights. Take a chance with the raffle.  All to support Friends of Peacham Library.

December 5, 7:00 pm, Board Meeting – Meetings are open to the public.

December 8, TBA, Hour of Code — Take a break from the holiday preparations to join us at the library for an hour of code.  Try your hand at writing code for a game, an art piece, an app, an arduino or a Lego robot!  There are many tutorials to try, each only an hour long.  To help you out, we’ll also have people on hand with coding experience throughout the day.  Can’t make it to the library, check out the “Hour of Code” website (https://hourofcode.com/us).

December 9, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

December 10, 10am – noon, Santa, Crafts and Latkes — A party for the whole family.  Start the morning with crafts, followed by a visit from the man in red, and end with a feast of latkes and applesauce.

October 10, 4:30pm, Friends of Peacham Library – Join the Friends as they plan events and fundraising activities in support of the library.  Thank you for all your help and support!

October 10, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle.

October 13th 10:30am-12pm — Herb Club — In place of our normal monthly herb club meeting, Melissa will be offering a free herb walk at Sage Mountain. Sage Mountain is Rosemary Gladstar’s 500 acre herbal retreat center. This gem is a piece of herbal history with multiple herbal display gardens and wild weeds. Numerous hiking trails are also open to the public during office hours so you are welcome to stay for a hike after the walk. The office will be open as well, featuring Rosemary Gladstar books for sale. Children are welcome. Please RSVP if you can to Melissa or the library, though all are welcome, including family and friends.

October 7, 7pm, International Observe the Moon Night — Peacham Library and Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation invite you to join us for International Observe the Moon Night, a worldwide celebration of our nearest neighbor, the Moon!  NOTE:  Date and time may change depending on weather; please check www.nkaf.org or www.peachamlibrary.org and the library throughout the week to be sure you come on the right day!  Held at the observatory.

  • 9am – 4pm, Book Sale
  • 6:30pm, Free Movie –A film made in Peacham “The Spitfire Grill” starring Ellen Burstyn and our beautiful town. Do you recognize all the locations?

September 30, 10 am – noon — Coffee Hour — Join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

October 1, 9:00 am, Breakfast Movie – Bring your breakfast and enjoy a movie!  We’ll be showing “Hotel Transylvania” and will provide the orange juice.  Peacham Café, right across the street, will be open, so why not pick something up there and bring it over to eat while you watch the movie?  Rated PG.  Children under 10 must come with a parent or guardian.

October 1, 10:30am – noon – Fiber Fest – Celebrate National Spinning and Weaving week by learning a weaving technique – kumihimo, ply-split braiding, weaving on a CD and other simple, hand-held methods of weaving will be taught.

September 20, 1:15pm, Tuesday Theatre – JoJo Moyes’ book Me Before You comes to the big screen.  Lou (Emilia Clarke) looses her job as a waitress and applies for a job taking care of Will (Sam Claflin), a banker paralyzed in an accident.  She’s winging it but her no-nonsense ways help reconnect with life and the inevitable happens.  Rated PG-13
