Looking Ahead

December 1, 7:00pm, Asperger’s Support Group – A new support group for parents and /or guardians of children, teens, or young adults with Asperger’s syndrome or high functioning autism.

December 3, 6:30pm, Quick Mixes — Make life easy with Quick Mixes. A bit of flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt and voila, you have an easy home-made, inexpensive mix for pancakes.  Pudding, muffin, even soup and spice mixes are just as easy.  We’ll whip up a variety of ingredients so that you can later add wet ingredients for an easy menu item.
Bring containers (quart size jars work well) and $5 for your choice of three mixes and recipes for all that are made.
Sign up required by December 1 to ensure sufficient ingredients will be available.

December 12, 10am – noon, Santa, Crafts and Latkes — a party for the whole family.  Start the morning with crafts, followed by a visit from the man in red, and end with a feast of latkes and applesauce.

This week at the library — November 15, 2015

November 17, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton star as an elderly couple living “five flights up” in Brooklyn and thinking that perhaps they should cash in on their valuable asset – a sought after apartment. Offers fly, discussions follow, and the happily married couple discover a new lease on life. Rated PG-13.

November 19, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight – The group will discuss H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald. The January book will be The Martian by Andy Weir. Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy of either book.

November 20, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

November 9, noon, Friends of Peacham Library –Friends plan great events in support of the library.

November 9, 6:30 pm, Peacham Knitters and Puzzlers— Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. Or work on the current jigsaw puzzle.

November 10, 7:00pm, Asperger’s Support Group – A new support group for parents and /or guardians of children, teens, or young adults with Asperger’s syndrome or high functioning autism.

November 13, 10am-noon, Coffee Hour –  join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

November 14, 1:00pm, Herb Club — Join the members of Herb Club for a discussion about herbs and their uses.This month the group will discus elder – all of its parts, including the berry, flower, bark and leaf.  Samples elderberry tea will also be available.

Are you a homeschooler?  Or are you looking for books to help supplement your child’s eduction?  Check out our new Homeschooling Section located in the Reading Room on the free-standing shelf by with the Audio Books.  While you’re there, you might also check out some of the audio books, we have several from The Learning Company suitable for adults and others.

Still interested in adopting a book, but thought you’d missed your chance?  Not to worry, we still have books available for adoptions.  Check the current list to see if there is one you would like to adopt.

For the harder to find books you can buy and keep, check out our ongoing book sale.  The books are nicely arranged by genre and subject!  What’s not to like about prices generally under $5?

This week at the library — December 7, 2014

Thank you to all who braved the snow to support Friends of Peacham Library at their annual High Holiday Tea.  Thank you, too, to all who donated items for the raffle, food for the table, and tea for the cup.  A good time was had by all.

Upcoming Events

December 8, 6:30, Peacham Knitters — Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting.

December 11, 1 – 7pm, Coding Day – Take a break from the holidays and join us at the library for an hour of code.  Try your hand at writing code for a game, an art piece, an app or an arduino!  There are many tutorials to try, each only an hour-long.  To help you out, we’ll also have people on hand with coding experience throughout the day.  Can’t make it to the library, check out the “Hour of Code” website.  Suitable for ALL ages!

December 12, 9:00 am, Story Time Stories and crafts for the young and their caregivers.
