This week at the library — June 16, 2013

June 17, 9:30am, Kids’ French Club – Fun stories, games, music and food—all in French!

June 17, 5:15 pm, Friends of Peacham Library Meeting – Planning future events including ice cream sales at PAMFest.

June 18, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – Lincoln, the 16th president, is the star of this 2012 film.

June 20, 7:00 pm, Readers’ Delight discussing St. Lucy’s Home For Girls Raised by Wolves by Karen Russell.  Contact the library if you would like to borrow a copy.

June 21, 10 am – noon, Coffee Hourjoin us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

June 22, 10am, Maker Day – SIGN UP to tear about a computer!  We’ll have a variety of computers and other electronics for you to take apart and inspect.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

June 24, 6:30pm, Peacham Knitters – Bring your knitting or other handwork for an evening of creativity and chatting. New knitters are welcome to come for help and encouragement.

June 25, 26, 27, 9:30am, The Art of Silk Screening — Design and print a t-shirt to go with this year’s summer reading program theme of “Dig Into Reading.” SIGN UP IS REQUIRED; suitable for those 9 years old and up (including adults!).

June 28, 9:00 am, Preschool Story Time – stories, crafts and activities for the young and their parents.

June 13, 7:00pm, Bites, Stings, Teeth and Wings: A Conversation on Environmental Health Risks with Josh Kantrowitz,  We all know about mosquitoes and ticks, but what other health risks are there in our environment?  Peacham’s Health Officer will lead us in this conversation on potential risks.

June 14, 9:00 am, Preschool Story Time – stories, crafts and activities for the young and their parents.

June 14, 10 am – noon, Coffee Hour – join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!Dance Party

June 15, 7:00pm, Family Dance Party with Tritium Well (at the Peacham Gym) – Dance the night away and support the library at the same time.  Tritium Well is a local band featuring Bobby Farlice-Rubio (you know him from the Fairbanks Museum), Linda Warnaar (the local Caribbean drummer), Kevin Colosa (the music teacher at Peacham Elementary School), David Lapham and Nicolas Anzoalone.  Admission $10 to support the library, with children 12 and under free.

May 24, 9am, Preschool Story Time – a change for April and May, with story time on the 2nd and 4th Fridays, just before Coffee Hour.  Stories, maybe a song, and always a craft, for children of all ages.

May 24, 10 am – noon, Coffee Hour – join us for a cup of coffee or tea, a sweet or two and good conversation. Suitable for all ages!

April 15, 7:00 pm, Tech Night – Web Design with local web developers Bram Moreinis (fire.peacham.net), and Jerry & Diana Senturia (peacham.net).  Topics will include updating information (content), refreshing appearance (design), adding capacities (function), relating to web techs (developers), talking the talk (vocabulary).

April 16, 1:15 pm, Tuesday Theatre – Leslie Caron is Gigi, a girl on the edge of womanhood and Louis Jourdan is the bored young playboy who falls in love with her. Maurice Chevalier sings the delightful Lerner-Lowe songs, “Thank Heaven for Little Girls,” and “Gigi.” Winner of nine Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Gigi is set in turn-of-the-century Paris.
