Proposed building plans - discussion at Peacham Library

PCH’s third community meeting is coming up this Thursday, Aug 24 regarding the future of the science building (63 Church St) and the Academy Apartments (135 Church St). We are committed to keeping our community informed and providing a forum for feedback and questions. Feel free to send questions / discussion topics in advance to peachamcommunityhousing@peachamlibrary

We need supporters to continue to show up in critical mass to bring this effort over the finish line. We still have a long road ahead of us, but we are getting closer to bringing much needed housing back online and fixing a blighted property issue in the heart of Village

We call it the science building, but for 20+ years it was four apartments (1 and 2 bedroom configurations). We’re working to bring that back, but with plans to vastly improve both buildings and the surrounding green space.

  • ADA compliance, universal design, improved walkways and connectivity between both buildings, surrounding greenspace and the rest of the village
  • Sustainable design, improved comfort and health for residents, energy efficiency, fossil fuel free energy systems

This PCH initiative is also about ensuring that people of diverse socioeconomic means can continue to call Peacham home. Our community should offer a full array of housing options, and opportunities for everyone (young people, new people, families, and senior citizens) to live comfortably in Peacham. This PCH effort will ensure that both buildings provide affordable rent for fixed-and-modest-income residents for many years to come.

Please join us in showing your support. Bring your questions, concerns, and your ideas.
